Set in the Mississippi Delta in 1946, this tale tells the tragic story of economic hardship, and the sad and brutal consequences of racism in the deep South during this time. City-bred Laura McAllen is forced to learn how to cope and raise her children on a mud bound farm when her husband decides to follow his love of the land. Thrown into turmoil between the loss of her past and the requisite love for her husband, she finds solace in her husband’s charming, but troubled brother who’s just back from the war. Storytelling at its best!
